About the event

Who is Mel Lawrence?

Mel Lawrence is the dedicated Head Coach of Ashton Swimming Academy, the premier swim school at Ashton International College Ballito and Dolphin Coast. Under his leadership, ASA has earned repeated recognition – winning top honours in both Best Sports Club/Coaching and Best Swim School in the North Coast Courier’s “Best of Ballito” awards.

Mel spearheads ASA’s comprehensive learn-to-swim and high-performance programmes, coaching swimmers from grassroots to competitive level. He played a pivotal role in guiding ASA athletes at the South African National Championships, where several swimmers secured top‑ten finishes—supported by his expert coaching.

Registered with KZNA and coaching at the college’s ten‑lane, heated pool under Swim South Africa accreditation, Mel emphasizes strong technical foundations, athlete confidence, and a love of the water. His dedication ensures a supportive, high-performance environment that fosters both skill development and competitive excellence.
